some like it hot, second take

ever since tina has moved up to the east coast, she’s been missing good tex-mex food.  trying to find tex-mex cooking in the washington, dc area will make anyone feel like agent mulder looking for alien life: the truth is out there, somewhere … isn’t it?  heading down to texas changes that in a hurry, you just have to keep yourself from stopping at eating at every roadside cantina you drive past.

goode co. is definitely one of the top stops in the area, and it lived up to expectations.  if it weren’t for the houston traffic just outside, you might almost think you were in a dusty corner of mexico.

the toughest question is, what do you want to drink for breakfast?  with the choices ranging across Negro Modelo, Tecate, and Sol, it’s tougher than picking who to draft with your freebie third round pick you robbed minnesota of in return for randy moss (belichick shows us all again why he’s the boss, childress shows us all again why his team is lost in the woods).

I guess it shouldn’t have come as a surprise to find I wasn’t all that hungry during tina + nick’s wedding, but by the time the reception wrapped up, I looked at my watch and it said “taco:c”.  taco cabana time, baby

listening to meghann and tina talk about taco cabana over dinner was not unlike listening to heroin addicts chatting in the early stages of rehab.  I’ve never heard such emotionally distressed longing conveyed by the human voice except perhaps in korean romantic tragedies.  I mean, really, what are they putting in these tortillas?

the answer is … I don’t know.  but I’m fairly sure it’s not something you can legally put on an ingredients list without being investigated simultaneously by a number of three-letter federal agencies.  like a true addict, tina couldn’t leave without grabbing the remaining tortillas and stuffing them into her purse, so she could nibble on them like a tripped out squirrel all the way back to the hotel.

not that I’m making fun of her, because they really are that good.  wish I could get my hands on some right now…
