Napoleon [Bistro and Lounge]

Posted in 5D Mark II, Adams Morgan, Food, Photography, Washington, DC by firthefirst on May 14, 2010

I don’t think anybody really calls Napoleon Bistro & Lounge in adams morgan by its full name, just as I doubt anybody called Ol’ Boney by his full name back in the day.  personally, I like to think of Bonaparte’s sister restaurant as Napoleon Dynamite.  because that’s what it is.  besides having one of the coolest restaurant websites ever, it’s got the food to back up the hype.

like most other adams morgan establishments, Napoleon crams you into an impossibly small space, in the style of a 19th century russian jail.  luckily for you, the menu here looks nothing like the menu at a russian jail — no crusty black bread or rats.  I want to wax splendiferous about Napoleon, but as I’ve got a site visit to get down to, I’ll let the images speak thousands of words for me:

the one thing you should absolutely not forget to do at Napoleon is act like a Frenchie and order some coffee as a closing to a fantastic meal.  one look at their coffee menu and you will realize they take their beans seriously.

bon appetit indeed.
